An old pipe wrench and an adjustable wrench on a black background

Two generations. Same pipe wrench.

Harbor is a family plumbing shop in Melrose. We’ve been fixing North Shore homes since 2009 — and our family’s been at it a lot longer than that.

Our story

Raised in the passenger seat of a work truck.

Pete Donnelly learned plumbing the way most good plumbers do — handing tools to his father. Frank Donnelly ran a one-truck shop out of Malden for thirty years, and by the time Pete was twelve he could sweat a copper joint cleaner than most apprentices.

In 2009 Pete took his master’s license, a used van, and a short list of his dad’s customers and started Harbor Plumbing & Heating. The van is long gone. The customers aren’t — some of them have been calling a Donnelly for two generations.

Today Harbor runs six trucks out of Melrose with a crew of licensed plumbers and gas fitters who were trained the way Pete was: do it right, explain what you did, and leave the place cleaner than you found it.

“My dad’s rule was simple: if you wouldn’t do it in your mother’s house, don’t do it in theirs.”— Pete Donnelly, owner

How we work

Four rules. No exceptions.

These go on the wall of the shop and in the head of every tech we hire.

Show up on time.

You get a real arrival window and a call 30 minutes out. If we’re running late, you hear it from us first.

Flat-rate quotes.

You approve the price before work begins. No hourly meter running while we hunt for parts.

Clean boots.

Boot covers on, drop cloths down, and we vacuum before we leave. Your home isn’t a job site.

Fix it once.

We’d rather spend ten extra minutes finding the real cause than come back next month for the same problem.
